The President of the Republic of Peru, Pedro Castillo, attended the award ceremony to commemorate Peru’s participation in the 2020 Dubai World Expo.
The event was held at the Lima Convention Center. Peruvian Prime Minister Guido Bellido, UAE Ambassador to Peru Mohamed Abdullah Shamsi, Peruvian Minister of Foreign Affairs Oscar Maurtua, and Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism Roberto ·Sanchez and many officials from national ministries and commissions participated in the event. Culture, transportation and communication, economy, finance and environment, as well as representatives of the Lima Chamber of Commerce and other export and tourism promotion agencies.
President Castillo welcomed Peru’s participation in the 2020 Dubai World Expo and pointed out that the World Expo is a window of opportunity to remind the world of Peru’s 1,000-year history.
In this sense, he said that the realization of this event in the United Arab Emirates “is very important news in times of emergency and economic recovery.”
The head of state confirmed that this event is an excellent opportunity to promote business, investment, trade, education, culture and tourism.
He added that such an Expo “will help our country integrate into the international circuit and bring the products of our brothers and sisters to families around the world.”
Ambassador Al Shamsi mentioned the 35-year long-term relationship between the UAE and Peru in his speech, confirming that Peru’s participation in the Dubai World Expo will help promote the growth and exchange of culture, education, technology and innovation between the two countries.
