President’s visit reflects UAE-France strategic partnership: ministers

“The two countries have achieved success in cooperating in various development areas of mutual interest, including political, economic, commercial, cultural and educational cooperation,” he continued.

Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of Economy, said that the UAE and France enjoy a strong and distinguished strategic relationship based on mutual respect and an ongoing partnership. “This special relationship between the two parties has provided fertile ground for continued growth and development, which has grown steadily since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries in 1971.”

Mariam bint Mohammed Al-Mhairi, Minister of Climate Change and Environment, said that the relations between the UAE and France have developed significantly in various important areas and documents of mutual interest, noting that the cooperation between the UAE and France is the most important in the world One of the pillars of climate and environmental action efforts.

Abdullah bin Touq Al Mar added that the strength of the bilateral relationship between the two countries is reflected in the resilient economic and trade relations that have been strengthening over time, explaining that the UAE has the highest number of French businesses operating in the Middle East In the eastern part of the country, there are estimated to be about 600 companies employing more than 30,000 people.

She emphasized the importance of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s visit to France. “Through this visit, we look forward to further cooperation with France, especially on issues of mutual concern, including global climate action.”

The minister added that the COP21 UN climate conference in 2015, which led to the Paris climate agreement, showed that France is one of the most important players in the field of climate change.

Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, Minister of State for Foreign Trade, affirmed the close trade and investment ties between the UAE and France, noting that non-oil trade between the two countries will reach $8 billion in 2022, a record 21% increase from 2021 49%. The 6% increase compared to 2020 and 6% compared to 2019 confirms the upward trend in trade flows between the two friendly countries over the past few years, despite the relative decline in international trade flows during these years.
