Priyanka Chopra Knows She ‘Can’t Please Everyone’ | Entertainment

[ad_1]

Priyanka Chopra admits she will “never be able to please everyone”.

The 40-year-old actress, who has a huge following on social media, has come under pressure in India for her apparent reluctance to discuss domestic issues.

Priyanka — who has more than 83 million followers on Instagram — explains: “There will always be people who say, ‘You didn’t say something’, ‘You should say something’. Like, you can never please everyone.”

The “Baywatch” star has been working with UNICEF for 15 years and is determined to use her fame to “amplify” the voices of the less fortunate.

In an interview with the BBC, she shared: “When you’re a public figure, people really want to know where I am, where I’m going. So I feel like that’s where I find my purpose, if I can use this platform I Had to talk about the initiatives and issues the kids faced and how they overcame them…maybe the people who consume me consume their information too.

“So I amplify people’s voices, especially children’s voices, whose voices don’t get carried. That’s the greatest job I’ve done in my life.”

Meanwhile, Priyanka admitted to facing body shaming during her early years in Bollywood because of the color of her skin.

The actress still remembers feeling at the time, as if she was “not pretty enough” to succeed in the entertainment industry.

Priyanka, who was born in Jamshedpur, India, explained: “I was called ‘black cat’, ‘dark’. I mean, in a country where everyone has brown skin, what does ‘dark’ mean? What?

“I don’t think I’m pretty enough, and I believe I have to work harder, even though I think I might be more talented than actors with lighter skin. But I think that’s right because it’s so normalized.”
