A high-level delegation of government and industry leaders from the United Arab Emirates took part in an exclusive field trip and Industrialization Summit (GMIS America) at Mill 19, Pittsburgh’s leading industrial and innovation hub, on the final day of the inaugural U.S. edition of Global Manufacturing.
The UAE visit was led by Omar Al Suwaidi, UAE Deputy Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology. He was also joined by UAE industry leaders from the Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development, ICT Fund, Emirates Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Dubai Industry City, as well as a team member from the United Nations Industrial Development Organization.
Mill 19 is a discovery workspace where Carnegie Mellon researchers and innovators collaborate with industry pioneers to advance and pursue digital innovation, advanced manufacturing technologies and human intelligence in the production lines and supply chains of the future. The workplace features additive manufacturing labs, cutting-edge high-tech workshops and state-of-the-art industrial facilities, and is home to some of the world’s most innovative advanced technology solutions.
The inaugural GMIS America Roadshow was held in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, hosted by Pennsylvania Governor Thomas Wolf, and brought together more than 70 expert speakers and 250 participants from government, private sector and academia around the world.
