Emirati and Arab ensembles from different countries will take part in the festivities and perform a religious singing practice called Malid
The Ministry of Culture and Youth is hosting an event called “Expression of Malid” to commemorate the birthday of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). The event will be held at the Abu Dhabi Creative Centre on Saturday night, 8 October, with performances of praise and depictions of love for the Prophet.
Emirati and Arab ensembles and bands from different countries will also take part in the celebrations and perform al-Marid.
The religious art of singing known as Al Malid is one of the most well-known traditional art forms in the region, embodying the UAE’s culture and its authentic values rooted in its Arab and Islamic heritage. Throughout history, such rituals have been associated with religious and social activities and have helped strengthen the fabric of communities.
