Thousands of workers from the ex-prime minister’s party, the Pakistan Tehreek Movement (PTI), have been detained as violent protests erupted across Pakistan following the arrest of Imran Khan in the Kadir trust case.

“No one will be allowed to disrespect our martyrs and their monuments. They are an inspiration and a source of pride to the armed forces, law enforcement agencies, government officials and the people of Pakistan,” said Asim Munir.
