Organizers said that Qatar has also signed a 10-year agreement to host Formula One racing in 2023.

Organizers announced that Qatar will host the first Formula One Grand Prix later this year to replace the cancelled Australian Grand Prix.

The race is scheduled to be held at the Losell International Circuit in Qatar on November 21 and will be the first part of the regional finale of the Formula One season. The December games will be held in neighboring Saudi Arabia and Abu Dhabi.

Ooredoo, an international communications company, will be the title sponsor of this event.

Qatar also signed a 10-year agreement to host Formula One racing in 2023.

A statement on F1’s official website stated: “Qatar has a strong willingness to help F1. In this process, the two sides discussed and agreed on a 10-year longer-term partnership vision.”

“As part of the long-term agreement, discussions on the venue for the Grand Prix will continue from 2023, and more details will be provided later,” it said.

Formula One President and CEO Stefano Domenicali (Stefano Domenicali) said that he is “very happy” to welcome Qatar to the Formula One schedule this season and long-term.

Domenicali said: “The Qatar Automobile and Motorcycle Federation and the authorities are unbelievable. They acted at an extremely fast speed to ensure that this season’s race can be held at the Losail Circuit, which is home to many people. Everyone knows where the MotoGP is held.”

“We have proven that we can continue to adapt. People have a huge interest in our sport and many places want to hold a Grand Prix. The huge efforts from all the teams, F1 and FIA have made it possible to provide 22 race schedules, which is full of challenges. This year has been very impressive and we can all be proud of it,” Domenicali added.

Abdul Rahman Mannai, chairman of the Qatar Automobile and Motorcycle Federation, said, “This is a very special day for Qatar motorsport and our country’s ambitions as a series of major sporting events.”

“I am proud that we have been able to intervene in such a short period of time and hold a race in our country to support Formula One, and at the same time have reached a groundbreaking long-term agreement with F1.

“This exciting agreement means that Qatar will be the venue for Formula One and MotoGP events in the next ten years. This will be the pinnacle of global motorsports. We have a proud racing history. This is us. The next chapter of the world,” al-Mannai said.

“Qatar will be a great destination for F1 and we look forward to welcoming all drivers, teams, media and fans soon,” he added.

Until this year, Formula One has only two regular Grand Prix venues in the Middle East. The Sakhir Circuit in Bahrain hosted the Grand Prix for the first time in 2004, and Yas Marina in Abu Dhabi joined in 2019.
