QCC inspects over 26,000 products in Abu Dhabi

ABU DHABI – The Abu Dhabi Quality and Compliance Council (QCC) has announced that it has inspected and audited 26,214 products in markets across Abu Dhabi, including 24,091 products sold during on-site inspections and online sales in the first quarter of 2023 2,123 products on the platform.

According to the commission’s report on performance indicators for the consumer and market services sector, it said it had verified 4,896 measuring instruments and 312 product packages covering 7,800 commodities.

Two products that had been withdrawn from the international market were recalled from the Abu Dhabi market, while three products were rectified in inspections of a total of 1,456 commodities, the report said.

Khalaf Al Mazrouei, executive director of consumer and market services, said the council is committed to ensuring the safety of products traded in the market. This is achieved by monitoring their compliance with the relevant norms and technical regulations by carrying out spot checks at the Council’s laboratories.

He further added that the Council continuously strives to develop and maintain its services to increase product competition by adopting and implementing best-in-class international methodologies and practices and empowering its staff through training, effective planning, follow-up and measurement of its services power and consumer safety and rights.

The report also highlighted the Council’s commitment to ensuring fair trade in Abu Dhabi and working with competent authorities to monitor and control import and export goods, thereby ensuring product safety by ensuring that they do not contain substances that may threaten health and safety.

In addition, eight inspectors from the committee have also obtained Judicial Law Officer certificates from the Judicial Training Academy of the Abu Dhabi Ministry of Justice, while about 18 inspectors have obtained Judicial Officer qualifications after completing a two-month basic training programme, Qualified for renewal.

The committee also launched a pre-packaged Ramadan product campaign in 13 markets in Abu Dhabi, more than six in Abu Dhabi, four in Al Ain and three in Al Dhafra, from March 21 to 24, to verify Quantity of prepackaged Ramadan products. Packaging products and their compliance with specifications, covering verification of approved legal units of measurement, in compliance with the control procedures of the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology.
