“I’ve never felt that vibe, and from the moment she walked in, she was so much fun,” said the photographer.

But the photographer added that one of Queen Elizabeth II’s odd habits is that she doesn’t like her hands and never wants them to be photographed.

“I was like, ‘I’d really like to take a picture of you holding a sword,’ and she said, ‘I don’t like my hands.’ [I thought] That’s the best ‘out’ with a sword,” said the photographer.

“I probably shouldn’t have said that [she disliked her hands]but what I love about her is that she’s so smart, and everything she says responds with this amazing twist,” the photographer added.

“It was really, really good. I loved it—I was with her for five minutes, so I didn’t know her very well,” the photographer further said.

Rankin said he was later contacted by Buckingham Palace and told his portrait of Her Majesty was their favourite.

“I got a really amazing note from the curator saying that the picture I took of her was one of their favorites – I took that to mean the Palace favorite – because she was really in my picture Laughing,” said the photographer.

“I was in the throne room and she was walking down this corridor and I could see her walking with the footman. They were all laughing, just laughing, and I was like, ‘This is what I want. ’ So that’s always been on my mind,” the photographer added.
