Audi Middle East brought the world-renowned AI:RACE prototype car that embodies the high-performance future to the Middle East and exhibited it at the Museum of the Future.
The AI:RACE is a groundbreaking prototype, a true masterpiece of automotive engineering and the embodiment of Audi’s forward-looking and innovative spirit. Stylish, powerful and environmentally friendly, the Audi AI:RACE is an all-electric high-performance supercar that promises to redefine the future of driving.
AI:RACE is the latest of several iconic cars and concepts to be on display at the Museum of the Future, including the Audi Vision GT, A6 Avant e-tron concept, Skysphere, A:I ME, and most recently, the S1 Hoonitron . Now in its second year, the successful ongoing strategic partnership between Audi Middle East and the museum aims to showcase the future of mobility to museum visitors through a series of exciting Audi concept models . Other prototypes and concepts will also be on display later this year.
race and road
The Audi AI:RACE is designed for track and road use, without complex automated driving systems or comfort features that add unnecessary weight. Instead, the driver’s seat and cockpit are integrated into a uniquely shaped sliding inner monocoque shell that can be positioned centrally for solo driving, creating a track-friendly, one-post setup. Steering and pedals feature a unique drive-by-wire design that requires no mechanical connection.
The Audi AI:RACE has a powerful electric drivetrain with three electric motors – one at the front and two centrally between the rear steering knuckles. These motors provide a combined power output of up to 500 kW, which can be temporarily boosted to 570 kW for maximum acceleration. Torque output of up to 830 Nm enables the vehicle to hit 0-100 km/h in a little over two seconds, making it a true performance machine. A full charge provides a range of more than 500 kilometers in one WLTP cycle, and with an 800-volt charging design, the battery can be fully charged in just 15 minutes.
AI:RACE is also purpose-built for road use, focusing on maximum efficiency and powerful performance, giving drivers a choice as they can limit maximum speed to support range. The AI:RACE can also be charged cordlessly via Audi Wireless Charging (AWC), in which a charging pad with an integrated coil sits under the car and connects to the mains. This creates an alternating magnetic field, which creates an alternating voltage to charge the car.
ideal aerodynamics
Motorsport inspiration is also evident throughout the car’s exterior. AI:RACE is 4.53 meters long, 2 meters wide and only 1.15 meters high, resembling a classic sports car. It also features a gently sloping roofline from the sides, a nearly vertical rear window when viewed from behind, and a red light strip that runs the length of the rear, borrowing from the highly raised rear diffuser in motorsport, which can be moved mechanically to increase downforce. Viewed from the front, the AI:RACE’s hood connects the car’s two prominent fenders and is deeply sloped for ideal aerodynamics.
Carsten Bender, General Manager of Audi Middle East, commented: “Bringing these unique and futuristic Audi models and concepts to the region is our aim and this is a truly special moment for Audi and car enthusiasts in the Middle East. The arrival of this car reflects not only the importance of the region to us, but also our commitment to it and our successful partnership with the Museum of the Future. AI:RACE represents Audi’s vision for the supercar of the future, it Combining advanced technology, stunning design and exhilarating performance. I encourage everyone to come to the Museum of the Future and see AI:RACE for themselves.”
