In preparation for Ramadan, the UAE Ministry of Defense has announced the locations of Iftar cannons in the UAE. Cannon firing throughout the holy month marks the end of fasting time and the beginning of iftar time, and calls for Maghreb prayers.
There will also be cannons at various locations in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Al Dhafra, in addition to Ras Al Khaimah and Umm Al Quwain. The Ramadan cannon has become a tradition in the UAE and the country where UAE residents love to watch.
During Ramadan, Iftar cannons will be fired in several emirates of the country to mark the start of the auspicious month of Ramadan, revive ancient traditions, preserve customs and uphold the true social heritage deeply rooted in the memory and conscience of UAE society.
In Dubai, the stationary cannon will be placed in Dubai Expo City (in front of the iconic Al Wasl Square), near Burj Khalifa, Dubai Festival City, Madinat Jumeirah, Damac and Hatta Guest House.
The cannon will be located at the Sheikh Zayed Mosque in Abu Dhabi City, Umm Al-Emarat Park in the Qasr Al-Hosn and Mushrif areas, and at the Formula car park in Shahama City, as well as in Al Ain City. It will be in Adnoc Gardens in the wedding hall and Zakher area near the Al-Jahili Fort, and in the city of Al-Dhafra.
In Ras Al Khaimah, it will be at the Al Qawasim Corniche at Flagpole and the Umm Al Quwain at the Sheikh Zayed Mosque.
