We all enjoy enjoying the art form in different ways and across unique platforms. Whether it’s between the pages, to soothing music, or on the walls – we bring you a roundup of what’s going on in the city. Document the UAE’s artistic achievements by picking up a book that embodies the vision of the land, dine on the nostalgic tunes of Beirut’s golden age, or admire the work of 42 artists and designers at homegrown spaces.

The Abu Dhabi Music and Arts Foundation (ADMAF) recently launched two unique publications in Dubai, Portraits of a Nation II and Art of the UAE II, celebrating national and resident artists and artists who have contributed to the UAE’s rise Works by art supporters art scene. Sequenced by a group of prominent art and cultural figures, the book carefully showcases masterpieces of art in vibrant images, each accompanied by descriptions from curators, writers, and the artist himself. The Art of the Emirates II paints a picture of the UAE’s exceptionally thriving arts scene and its global leadership as a center for arts and culture. The story is told through interviews, roundtable discussions and articles by those who have built the UAE’s visual arts scene and infrastructure from the ground up since the nation’s founding. From the director of the Louvre Abu Dhabi to the UAE’s most famous living artist, Emirates Art II is an unprecedented conversation with those of us who are writing the history of UAE art.

Singing: A Celebration of Levantine Talent

If you want to listen to Middle Eastern classical music, then you can go to Allo Beirut, City Walk Café. As well as serving up Lebanese street food for the region, they also put on a series of live entertainment to showcase Levantine talent and stir up nostalgia for Beirut’s golden age. Every Tuesday and Saturday, listen to the mesmerizing oriental melodies of the live band and ignite memories of Lebanon’s golden age. Taking inspiration from the harmonies of Fairrouz and the symphony of Sabah, local talent is extending a musical welcome to each country to share the memory of what Beirut once was. In addition, every Thursday is dedicated to Lebanese nights with DJ ToughGuy, who will mix his own music with Lebanese classics. All this with Lebanese food and a game of tawala, if you must.

WATCH: UAE Creative Landscape Exhibition

The 12th annual ‘Made in Tashkir’ exhibition epitomizes the diverse art and design output of the UAE’s growing creative community, featuring the work of 42 artists as well as access to Tashkir facilities by its members, artists-in-residence More than 90 works created, seminar speakers and participants, recent exhibitors and clients. “Made in Tashkil is one of the key ways we highlight the extraordinary range of art and design that is conceived and created in the UAE each year,” said Tashkil Associate Director Lisa Ball-Lechgar. Calligrapher Ibraheem Khamayseh works from 3D Studio. Jehan Ali, Sharifa Al Shashmi and Karam Hoar printed their work on an Epson Surecolor P9000 in Tashkeel, while Rima Moukahal, CharLes, KSA-born artist Hadil Moufti, jewelry designer Lia Staehlin and Chie Nakano from Japan were in Tashkeel Nad Al The workspace created their works Sheba and Afadi. The youngest artist on display is 14-year-old Morvarid Mohammad, who created oil paintings and watercolours. Visitors can also view work from the Tanween Design programme, Tashkeel’s nine-month program for designers to create work inspired by the UAE.
