Rebel Wilson and Charles Melton are lining up to star in the road trip comedy “K-Pop: Lost in America.”
The 42-year-old actress and 31-year-old “Riverdale” star is said to be the first choice to lead South Korean filmmaker JK Youn’s film, Deadline reported.
The script is being written by Jeff Kaplan and Ian Springer, and is currently being drafted by Karen McCullah and Kirsten ‘Kiwi’ Smith.
The plot is about “a breakthrough K-pop group that finds itself erroneously trapped in Waco, Texas just days before their US debut at Madison Square Garden. No phone, no money. With no transportation, the duo must overcome their differences and the many crazy obstacles of a New York City. Along the way, they learn to love Texas, and Texas learns to love them too.
Filming will begin in the fall.
It has yet to find a home, but there is reportedly a lot of interest there.
Rebel’s latest film is Netflix’s The Senior, which she also produced.
The “Bridesmaids” actress plays a 37-year-old woman who wakes up from a 20-year coma and decides to go back to high school to get her diploma.
Charles is best known for playing Reggie Mantle on the CW TV series “Riverdale” and as Daniel Bae in the 2019 film “The Sun Is a Star,” too.
Meanwhile, Rebel recently came out to introduce her girlfriend Ramona Agruma to the world.
Although the Hustle star and fashion designer and businessman Ramona have been dating for six months and even attended the Vanity Fair Oscar party together in March, they only recently went public with their romance.
“I thought I was looking for a Disney prince…but maybe all I really needed was a Disney princess,” Rebel wrote on Instagram.
The pair were introduced by actor and singer Hugh Sheridan.
