Bangladesh could have shut down but left the game in limbo. That meant Hameed and Rizwan rebuilt the UAE’s innings, adding 90 points over the next 11.5 rounds. Yasir Ali helped them along the way, putting Rizwan on the 13th deep square leg boundary.
But the pair ran desperately around, scoring with many boundaries at the same time. Hamid’s four bounds included a dangerous sloped shot against Saifuddin from a stump. Rizwan hit 50 with a piercing screen drive in the penultimate end, but he had too much to do himself.
