Hockaday hosts open house for educators
The Hockady Art Museum is hosting a free open house for teachers and parents teaching at home. From Thursday, September 21st from 3:30pm to 6pm.
Attendees will tour current exhibits and classrooms, learn about the museum’s educational programs, including those offered virtually, chat with Hockaday’s Executive Director Alyssa Cordova and Director of Education Kathy Martin, and view sample art classes and programs, including virtual programs now offered, Network with other educators in the area and more. There will also be scavenger hunts, door prizes, drinks and refreshments.

Nat launched single ticket sales. geography.Speaker series
Single tickets for the National Geographic Live Speaker Series at the Wachholz College Center on the Flathead Valley Community College campus are on sale starting at 10 a.m. today (September 8), starting at $38 per event. Series subscription packages that offer discounted tickets to all five events will continue to be available through November 17.
The National Geographic Live Speaker Series provides audiences with insight and behind-the-scenes stories from National Geographic photographers, scientists, filmmakers, and adventurers. Each event takes place on stage in McLaren Hall, accompanied by iconic National Geographic footage and imagery.
The inaugural 2022-2023 National Geographic Live Speaker Series brings these five speakers and topics to the McLaren Hall stage at the Wachholz College Center:
• November 17: Alicia Odewale – Greenwood: A Century of Resilience
• January 26: Rae Wynn-Grant – The Secret Life of Bears
• February 23: Bryan Smith – Catching the Impossible
• March 30: Terry Virts – View from above (note: the speaker scheduled for this has changed from Kenny Broad to NASA astronaut Terry Virts
• April 27: Andy Mann – From the Mountain to the Sea

Rehearsals for the Voices of the Valley will begin next week
The Valley Voices Community Choir will return to rehearsal this fall after a nearly three-year hiatus due to Covid 19. Rehearsals will be held Monday from 6-8pm. The season will begin on September 12th in Flathead High School’s chorus room. Registration begins at 5:30 pm and costs $45. All are welcome. Masks are optional. No auditions, just the desire to sing passionately.
