DUBAI: Be careful if you’re heading out for work as thick fog blanketed the UAE early Wednesday morning.
According to the National Center of Meteorology (NCM), the fog is expected to last until 9am.
Skies in the UAE are expected to be clear to cloudy for the rest of the day.
NCM issued amber and red alerts in parts of Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah due to fog formation and reduced road visibility.
Abu Dhabi Police warned drivers to drive carefully and lowered speed limits in some parts of the emirate.
Dubai Police also urged drivers to be cautious on the road.
Winds are expected to blow repeatedly at speeds of 15 – 25 km/h, sometimes as high as 35 km/h.
Maximum humidity is expected to reach 95%. Humidity is expected to be highest overnight and Thursday morning, with fog or mist possible in coastal and inland areas such as Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman.
Temperatures are expected to increase gradually. On average, temperatures are expected to be in the mid-30s with highs reaching 32°C. Dubai is currently at 20°C with foggy skies.
Conditions at sea are expected to be generally calm.
