Reduced fees for 14 services to enhance the industrial sector

ABU DHABI – The Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology (MoIAT) has reduced fees for 14 major and minor services and waived fees for one service from 1 January 2023.

The move is in line with the objectives of the ‘Make in the UAE’ initiative to create an attractive business environment for local and international investors and support entrepreneurship and SMEs in the industrial sector by reducing the cost of doing business in the UAE.

MoIAT said that under the proclamation of 2023 as the Year of Sustainable Development, the reduction in service charges will encourage sustainable industries by facilitating the deployment of advanced technologies to reduce emissions and increase circularity in the industry.
The move includes reducing the fee for specific conformity assessment providers to issue certificates of conformity for products from AED 1,000 to AED 670 and for optional (non-restricted) products to issue certificates of conformity from AED 3,700 to AED 1,720 license to use the UAE Quality Mark from Dh26,000 to Dh2,000, license to use the National Halal logo from Dh18,000 to Dh2,000, and range from Dh2,500 to the UAE Quality Mark and the National Halal Logo Mum expanded to 250 dirhams.
The plan also includes reducing the notification fee for conformity assessment bodies from AED 33,000 to AED 24,500 and the registration fee for conformity assessment bodies from AED 7,500 to AED 5,000.

In addition, MoIAT waived the UAE Standard Sales Fee, which previously cost AED 481, to raise awareness of the importance of national standards and their role in supporting the industrial sector and economic development.
Omar Al Suwaidi, Undersecretary of MoIAT, said, “The reduction and elimination of some fees is in line with the Ministry’s passion to develop the country’s priority industrial sectors and enhance its investment attractiveness, in line with ‘Our UAE Vision 2031’ represents a national plan for global cooperation Partners offer promising opportunities. We also seek to further strengthen the UAE’s position as a global partner and an attractive and influential economic hub as we promote industrial companies and their Product competitiveness.

He added, “The reduction in fees will improve the UAE’s competitiveness through growth in economic and business development, which will be reflected in the ease of doing business index. The move is in line with the ministry’s commitment to increase the flexibility of the legislative framework and provide added value to its customers. It also reduces the burden on designated bodies and registered conformity assessment bodies, supports national industries in line with the national industrial and advanced technology strategy, and 300 billion actions.

He noted that MoIAT places great emphasis on building an efficient and effective industrial business environment, as studies conducted by the ministry have shown that factories have increased demand for certificates, with an expected annual growth rate of up to 25% in the number of applications compared to 12% in 2020. , the number of applications for next year has increased. In addition, MoIAT expects an increase in requests for licenses to use the UAE Quality Mark and for issuing certificates of conformity for products based on health and safety requirements.
