Ogdensburg — The Frederick Remington Museum of Art has officially begun its search for a new permanent executive director.
Founded in 1923, the museum is looking for an executive director to lead the institution into its second 100 years.
“This is an exciting time in the life of the museum,” interim executive director Doug MacDonald said in a prepared statement. “I look forward to working with the new permanent directors and assisting their transition to this role.”
According to the job listing, the museum is looking for individuals with “excellent leadership, strategic thinking and a track record of fundraising, as well as the vision and strategic, intellectual and managerial skills and experience required to lead the institution at this critical time” in its history . “
Some of the key qualities listed include strategic leadership, promotion and financial management, operational leadership, human resource management, leadership in projects and community engagement, marketing and communications leadership, and board relations.
The new director will not only be an ambassador for the museum, but must also embrace diversity, equity, access and inclusion as the museum’s core commitments and values.
“Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director will provide ultimate leadership for all aspects of the museum’s operations,” as stated in the checklist. “The Executive Director actively promotes the museum and its mission, and is responsible for the institution’s vision, strategy and finances to ensure a sustainable future.”
Based on experience, annual compensation ranges from $75,000 to $100,000 with a competitive benefits package.
