UDN’s noodles, but is it okay to sip?
Yes, yes, the ramen is great. We are not telling you not to eat ramen. What we tell you to do is also eat the thicker wheat flour noodle cousin udon noodles of ramen. A pleasant place is the brand new Udon Noodle House UDN in Abu Dhabi.
DRVN Coffee, a coffee expert in Abu Dhabi, brought this concept into reality. UDN celebrates and focuses on one of Japan’s most famous and versatile noodles, which has made Japanese diners happy for centuries.
UDN is very special because it makes noodles in-house from scratch every day. They can be ordered in the traditional form of UDN-curry broth or vegan broth. UDN also serves a variety of surrounding dishes, such as edamame, dumplings and so on. Our advice is to skip them and stick to udon noodles.
We tried UDN curry with grilled chicken (68 dirhams), which features a rich slow-cooked curry infused with clear fish soup, plenty of green onions, a few slices of naruto (fish cake) and Japanese spices. We added a few extra medium boiled eggs for extra creaminess. The delivered bowl needs two hands to reach the table. It’s so big. And it’s delicious. Its taste is so vivid and so fresh (thanks to a lot of green onions and herbs), it reminds us of the best part of Malaysian laksa. As for the noodles, they are very good, with incredible depth of flavor and perfect texture.
You might say that a bowl of noodle soup is 68 dirhams, it must be good, because the price is cheap only if the food is great. In UDN, it is; a place that focuses on one thing and does it with this technique has some attractions.
