Revised Covid Guidelines for Dubai Schools; Shortened quarantine period for close contacts-News

[ad_1]

The Dubai Health Authority (DHA) has revised its guidelines for the management of Covid-19 in educational institutions.

The guide is applicable to universities, schools, nurseries, child care centers and special needs centers in Dubai.

Major updates include:

>> The physical distance requirement for students is now one meter instead of two meters.

>> All precautions should be continued, such as wearing a mask, maintaining hand hygiene, etc.

>> The isolation period for close contacts has been shortened to 7 days, regardless of their vaccination status. If the person has no symptoms, PCR testing is not required at the end of the isolation period.

>> The isolation period for people with Covid-19 is still 10 days.

>> The clearance certificate-required after the quarantine period for positive cases is over-will be issued automatically. Students and faculty members can return to the educational institution after submitting the certificate.

Dr. Hanan Obaid, Director of the Department of Health Policy and Standards of the Health Regulatory Department, said: “Our goal is to protect the health and well-being of students and faculty, while ensuring the continuity of learning to the greatest extent possible.

“These detailed guidelines provide relevant educational institutions with clear, accurate and comprehensive step-by-step agreements so that they can be fully prepared and equipped to provide a safe learning environment for students and protect staff.”

Dr. Sawsan Al Nahas, Acting Head of the DHA School Health Department, said: “The guide details the classification of low, medium and high risk transmission, as well as all mandatory measures that educational institutions must take based on the risk of infection.
