LOS ANGELES (AP) — California prosecutors on Wednesday dropped domestic violence charges against Justin Roiland, who created the Cartoon Network animated series “Rick and Morty” and voiced two of the show’s main characters.

Roiland responds to news of firing on Twitter.

“I’ve always known the claims were wrong — I never doubted that this day would come,” he said. “I’m thankful the case was dismissed, but at the same time, I’m still deeply appalled by the horrific lies that were reported about me in the process.”

He added that he was “disappointed that so many people are so quick to pass judgment without knowledge of the facts, based solely on the words of a bitter ex trying to circumvent due process and have me ‘disqualified.'”
