Rod Aissa Resigns as Head of Impromptu Content for NBC Universal Television and Streaming Entertainment – Deadline

rod aisa Left NBCUniversal after 11 years, most recently as Executive Vice President, Entertainment Unscripted Content, NBCUniversal TV and Streaming. He just notified his staff of his departure in a memo (which you can read below).

During this time, Rachel Smith will succeed Aissa in leading the unscripted lifestyle and documentary series team, working alongside Corie Henson, executive vice president of entertainment unscripted content who oversees competitions and game shows.

Aissa oversees all improv lifestyle and documentary programming across NBCU’s broadcast, cable and streaming platforms: NBC, Bravo, E!, Oxygen True Crime, SyFy, Universal Kids, USA Network and Peacock, reporting to Susan Rovner, Chairman of Entertainment Content, NBCUniversal Television and stream media.

Previously, he served as Executive Vice President of Original Programming for Oxygen and E!! During production, he managed the development and production of Oxygen’s original true crime programming and directed E!’s credits.

Before joining Oxygen, Aissa worked on OWN’s startup team: Oprah Winfrey Network, where he oversaw programming and development. Prior to that, he was executive vice president of television for Ashton Kutcher’s production company, Katalyst Films, where he developed cable and broadcast properties. Earlier in his career, Aissa was Executive Vice President of Series and Talent Development for MTV/MTV Films.

Hello everyone,

After 11 years of building the brand and creating great shows with you all, I want to share with you my role as I am leaving NBCU.

I’m proud of the journey we’ve been on together as we rebrand the web, pivot to streaming, elevate the true crime genre, and see Bravo craze. I will leave the best team to continue to reach new heights and expand on the many successes we have already achieved.

I look forward to keeping in touch with you and seeing what else you can achieve.
