Rookie welterweight David Lopez has signed an exclusive promotional deal with DiBella Entertainment, the promotional company announced Monday.
Lopez (3-0, 2 eliminations), a 19-year-old from Oakland, California, made his debut for the Promoter when he defeated Nelson Morales by unanimous decision on April 27 at Sony Hall in New York City. Coming from a boxing family whose father/coach Kris Lopez was a boxer as well as his older brother, great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather, the 6-foot-0 southpaw has a 34-4 amateur record and won the Puerto Rico national team at A junior Olympic champion and bronze medalist in 2015, he rose to the top of the US boxing bantamweight division in 2015 and 2016.
“This is a great signing for DBE. I was very impressed with David at Sony Hall and I believe he has great potential. Father-son interaction is a long tradition in boxing and I can Seeing that Chris taught David well. As a working model, David is a handsome, glamorous prospect on and off the field. Lopez also drew praise from boxing Hall of Famer Andre Ward, who recalled that Lopez challenged him to a boxing match in 2016 when Lopez was just 12 years old, after which Ward called him “World’s Best Boxer Under 13”.

I’ve been training for the sport my whole life and the goal has always been to be a world champion.
