The Dubai Roads and Traffic Authority (RTA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with French mobility specialist MND, a leading company in the ropeway industry, as part of its efforts to achieve Dubai’s vision of making 25% of all travel in Dubai a self-driving tour-to Driving in 2030.

Both parties are committed to jointly research and implement the CABLINE system and contribute to the realization of this vision. The CABLINE system was developed by the ropeway expert MND with the support of the French Ecological Transformation Agency (ADEME). It is fully in line with the RTA’s goals and aims to provide a new experience for air transportation.

The Memorandum of Understanding was signed by Abdul Mohsin Ibrahim Younes, CEO of RTA Railway Bureau, and Xavier Gallot-Lavallée, Chairman and CEO of MND.

CABLINE aims to integrate and connect the city’s existing multimodal transport network. This fully automatic, unmanned transportation system, the self-propelled cabin moves on ropes at speeds of up to 45 km/h, uses minimalist infrastructure, is easy to integrate, and has a minimal footprint. Its innovative technology is more modern, more beautiful, quieter and more energy-efficient than traditional ropeway transportation.

CABLINE makes maintenance easier to ensure the high availability of the urban transportation system and provide the best service for passengers. This disruptive technology started a patented innovation and relied on strong and proven references from MND and its partners in the traditional ropeway field.

“The signing of this memorandum of understanding is part of RTA’s ongoing efforts to increase public transport trips to 26% by 2030. Achieving this goal requires the development of advanced and innovative transport systems and improvements to Dubai’s sustainable transport network to encourage People and tourists use public transportation. MND is the leading group of ropeway infrastructure and is committed to developing a new driverless high-speed system. The CABLINE system of MND is flexible, energy-efficient, and has little impact on the urban environment,” Younes said.

We believe that our cableway design center in the French Alps is developing the CABLINE technology Can contribute to a new urban traffic experience. Our engineering team has been working hard to complete the design in the past few years and make CABLINE a unique disruptive technology to ease urban traffic.”
