RTA awards contract for construction of internal roads in Dubai

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has awarded contracts for the construction of interior roads and lighting works in four residential communities in the emirate – Margham, Lahbab, Al Lesaily and Hatta.

The project covers a total of 37 kilometers of roads, and also includes 21 kilometers of road works and the addition of street lights to 16 kilometers of existing roads. The project is expected to be completed by the end of 2023.

Announcing the contracts, Mattar Al Tayer, Director General and Chairman of the Executive Board of the RTA, said: “The construction of the internal roads stems from the RTA’s passion to improve the infrastructure of roads, lighting and stormwater drainage systems in residential communities.”

Regarding the Margham project, Al Tayer said: “The internal road project includes the construction of an 8km stretch of road in an area of ​​Dubai-Al Ain Road near Dubai Skydive. The infrastructure works also include stormwater drainage networks and street lights.”

“The project serves more than 1,100 nearby residents,” explains Al Tayer.

Regarding the Lahbab project, he said that it includes the paving of 4 kilometers of roads and infrastructure works such as stormwater drainage and street lighting. The scope of the project also includes lighting works for the existing street along the 2km stretch of Dubai-Hatta Road next to the Rahbabu Camel Racecourse.

“The project serves more than 3,000 residents and improves the connectivity of residential areas under construction to the road network,” he added.

Regarding the Al Lesaily project, Al Tayer noted that the internal road spans 7 km. “The project includes more than 14 kilometers of road works near the final exit to Saih Assalam and Al Qudra Lake, which serves about 2,900 residents and improves access to the area,” he added.

In Hatta, the RTA chief said that in addition to infrastructure works including stormwater drainage and street lighting, the project also included the construction of a 2-kilometer road in Hatta, especially in Sa’aeer, Al Salami and Suhaila.
