A senior presidential official and other officials said Russian missiles hit key infrastructure in Kyiv on Saturday morning and an explosion occurred in the Dniprovsky district of the Ukrainian capital.
Reuters reporters heard a series of explosions in Kiev before air raid sirens sounded in Kiev. Officials told residents to take shelter.
“Missile attack on critical infrastructure. Details are being checked,” said Kirillo Tymoshenko, deputy head of the presidential office.
Kyiv’s military said an infrastructure was hit, but did not say which.

“Explosion in Dniprovskiy district. All institutions that went to the scene. Stay in shelters!” Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko wrote on Telegram.
Fragments from a missile landed in an uninhabited area of the Holosiivskiy district in western Kyiv, he said.
Russia has been bombarding Ukraine’s vital energy infrastructure with missiles and drones since October, causing widespread power outages and disrupting central heating and running water as winter approaches.
