Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday denied any intention to use nuclear weapons in Ukraine, but described the conflict there as part of an alleged effort by the West to secure its global dominance, which he insisted was doomed.
Putin told a meeting of international foreign policy experts that it would make no sense for Russia to use nuclear weapons against Ukraine.
“We don’t think it’s necessary,” Putin said. “It doesn’t make any sense, whether it’s political or military.”

In a tirade, Putin accused the United States and its allies of trying to dictate to other countries in a “dangerous, bloody and dirty” game of domination.
Putin, who sent troops to Ukraine on February 24, said Western support for Ukraine was part of a broader effort by Washington and its allies to impose its will on other countries through what they called a rules-based world order. He believes that the world has reached a turning point where “the West is no longer able to impose its will on mankind, but still tries to do so, and most countries are no longer willing to tolerate it.”
The Russian leader claimed that Western policies would cause more chaos, adding that “whoever sows the wind will reap the whirlwind”.
Putin claimed, “Humanity now faces a choice: to accumulate a large number of problems that will inevitably overwhelm us all, or to try to find solutions that may not be ideal but are effective and can make the world more stable and secure.”
The Russian leader said Russia was not an enemy of the West but would continue to oppose the orders of the so-called Western neoliberal elites, accusing them of trying to subdue Russia.
“Their goal was to make Russia more vulnerable and turn it into a tool for its geopolitical mission, but they failed and will never succeed,” Putin said.
Putin reiterated his long-standing claim that Russians and Ukrainians were part of one people, and once again reduced Ukraine to a “man-made state” that acquired historic Russian lands from communist rulers during the Soviet era.

The Russian leader reiterated Moscow’s baseless claims that Ukraine was plotting to detonate a radioactive dirty bomb to accuse Russia of a false flag attack, a charge Ukraine denies and dismissed by its Western allies as “obvious”. it’s wrong”.
Putin said he “always” considered Russia’s casualties in the Ukraine conflict, but insisted that NATO’s refusal to exclude potential Ukrainian membership and Kyiv’s refusal to abide by a peace deal over the separatist conflict in the country’s east had left Moscow with no choice.
He denied underestimating Ukraine’s ability to fight back and insisted his “special military operation” had gone ahead as planned.
Putin also acknowledges the challenges posed by Western sanctions, but argues that Russia has proven resilient to foreign pressure and has become more united.
