Safeen Feeders launches new UAE-China service

Safeen Feeders of AD Ports Group has launched a new UAE-China service deploying a recently purchased container vessel, Safeen Power, with a capacity of 3,400 TEUs.

The monthly service will link the Chinese ports of Shanghai, Qingdao and Ningbo directly with the Khalifa port in Abu Dhabi, opening a major new trade route, according to the Wham News Agency.

This will be the first time Safeen Feeders has landed in China as the company continues to expand its global reach. Recently, Safeen N Feeders announced that it will support the new India East Coast Express 2 service connecting Singapore, Colombo in Sri Lanka and Chennai in India.

China is one of the UAE’s largest business partners, and bilateral trade between China and the UAE will exceed $75.6 billion by 2021. In addition, there are currently around 6,000 Chinese companies operating in the UAE, with a considerable number of Chinese mainly working in the infrastructure and energy sectors.

Captain Ammar Mubarak Al Shaiba, Acting Chief Executive Officer, AD Ports Group Maritime Cluster and SAFEEN Group, said: “The launch of our new service to China, one of the most important markets in the UAE, reflects our global vision for expanding maritime services. Since its launch in 2020, Safeen Feeders have grown rapidly, increasing overall container capacity to over 600,000 TEU/year. Its container services support mainline shipping lines and customers in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Bahrain, Iraq, Sudan, Pakistan and India, and are currently expanding along new routes.

Safeen Feeders currently operates a total of 5 routes, with the new UAE-China and Singapore-Chennai-Colombo services joining the UAE-Sudan service launched in 2022, and the UAE Coastal-Oman and UAE-India-Gulf services launched earlier.
