Islamic Arabian Insurance Company (Salama), the largest provider of Shariah-compliant takaful insurance solutions in the United Arab Emirates, has appointed a new Chairman and Vice-Chairman of the Board, as well as members of the Board of Directors.
The company’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) also marked the appointment of the first woman to the Salama Board of Directors.
The Board of Directors elected Saeed Mubarak Rashed Saeed Alhajeri as Chairman and Mohammed Ahmad Mohammed Bin Abdulaziz AlShehhi as Vice-Chairman.
New board members include Saeed Mubarak Rashed Saeed Alhajeri, Mohammed Ahmad Mohammed Bin Abdulaziz AlShehhi, Fraih Saeed Helal Fraih Alqubaisi, Saeed Bin Mohammad Al Qassimi, Ahmad Mohammad al Sadah, Ajit Vijay Joshi and Maha Abdul Maje ed Ismail Ali Al-Fahim.

The appointment of Salama’s first female board member is an important milestone and reflects the UAE’s efforts to promote gender diversity and empower women in leadership roles.
Alhajeri has over 27 years of experience in international finance and is highly regarded and respected in the industry. Alhajeri’s expertise extends to Abu Dhabi and UAE government entities, where he also serves on the Board of Directors. He holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Lewis and Clark College in the United States and is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA).
In 2007, he was selected by the World Economic Forum as one of 250 Young Global Leaders for his outstanding contributions to the UAE’s public and financial sectors.

The AGM also marks the end of former chairman Jassim Alseddiqi’s term as a board member, who has decided not to serve another term.
