Explain the background of you and the company in detail.
I’ve been an entrepreneur since I was young. I’ve been launching start-ups for 20 years, and then for another 20 years, I’ve been a developer and real estate investor. Among the companies I founded, developed, enhanced, and later sold, there are Radio Kiss Kiss, Grandi Scuole, TÜV Thüringen Italia, and Gruppo Answers.
In real estate, the business idea was to acquire old, abandoned buildings in the historic centers of cities and bring them back to their former beauty by turning them into hotels. Today, I am an international investor with a passion for crypto.
Salvatore Leggiero, tell us something about your goals?
My goal has always been to create new ideas, develop innovative and pioneering projects, and enhance them by adding value for me and the world. Currently, I’m working on a digital real estate project in the virtual world (Metaverse) connected with physical real estate.
What do you feel is the biggest strength of yourself/company right now?
My strengths are creativity, perseverance, and resilience. The same applies to the company’s team, which is made up of brilliant people.
What was the path you/your company took to get to where you are today?
We are very energetic because we have an unrestrained curiosity, are passionate, and have a genuine taste for beauty and quality. We have been successful because we have gained the trust of customers and investors in addition to our prerogatives.
Why did you start (or want to be the head of) this company?
I started because doing business, creating, building, and developing are embedded in my nature.
What have been the biggest challenges you’ve had to overcome?
As for everyone doing business, I had to face enormous difficulties at the beginning. Since I’ve always loved to create and develop new ideas, I had many beginnings, and therefore, I had to face new challenges each time. My experiences and challenges have taught me that it’s best to divide bigger problems into smaller ones and solve them step-by-step.
Every time, at the beginning of a new entrepreneurial adventure, it seems impossible to overcome obstacles. Still, conviction, determination, humility, and the ability to learn and be inspired by those more experienced have helped me a lot in my path. The hardest part has always been facing and admitting our own mistakes against our convictions.
Give us one word that describes you the best.
Brave
What makes you excited about Mondays?
A new week of intense and exciting work begins that will allow me to achieve my dreams.
What do you value most about your culture and vision?
Versatility, lateral thinking, putting different ideas together, and confidence in the future.
Tell us about a project that forced you to be innovative and creative.
As I mentioned, I started and created many innovative projects, so talking about the times I had to be creative and innovative would mean telling my whole story. So, therefore, I’ll tell you about the latest project I’m working on, the most recent one where each step seems to be the biggest and most challenging one.
The project I’m currently working on exploits the new digital economy’s opportunities that make things beyond imagination possible, as it happens in the Metaverse. When Zuck (Mark Zuckerberg) announced Meta, my life turned upside down, and when I realized what the blockchain is, I couldn’t sleep for nights.
Putting together the modern and the antique has always fascinated me: buying ancient buildings conceived hundreds of years ago and turning them into contemporary designed hotels has been a piece of my life. Now, I want to create a stablecoin pegged to real estate.
What are your company’s strategies, and how do they stand unique from your competitors?
As for the new project I am working on, I am not aware of any direct competitors at this time.
What are the key values that helped you overcome the roadblocks/challenges in your career?
Conviction, determination, resilience, and honesty.
Tell us something about your memorable incident in your leadership?
I have many, but here is the one I consider the most emblematic. When I bought a small school in Perugia, I suggested that all teachers switch from traditional classes to one-to-one tutoring (one student, one tutor). They did not agree and believed it would be huge work compared to having 20 people in a classroom.
Although I proposed a fee for each student, after an intense and heated meeting with all professors, I was forced to make a difficult decision that turned out to be the right one: I fired them all. I was aware that this drastic choice would have destroyed the value of my bought company. Still, it was the only way to reshape the internal culture and develop what I considered a revolutionary idea.
Only one teacher stayed out of 36. Since that choice, thanks to the success of my innovative idea, Grandi Scuole was born, which I sold to Cepu in 1995 to my great satisfaction, and opened 120 branches in Italy in a few years.
How do you see the company changing in two years, and how do you see yourself creating that change?
Everything changes, and as the world around us evolves, so must the products and services we offer to our customers. Change is a word that I love, and that offers new scenarios to be explored. One may try to oppose change, but I prefer to embrace it and contribute to the evolution of things.
Where is your leadership going? What benefits do your clients get from your company in this competitive world?
When you’re young, you are willing to sacrifice and experiment. As you get older, you start to rush because you realize that time flows, and you may lose chances. When you become more mature, you understand that being restless isn’t useful and that it is better to slow down and be more reflective.
Today, my leadership is to provide my experience, knowledge, and ability to others. My ambition is to inspire others in the one thing I believe I do well: the entrepreneur. My willingness is to become a mentor to new generations of entrepreneurs, allowing them to avoid repeating the mistakes I made.
What are the services/solutions or products offered by your company on par with the current industry standards? Tell us something about your upcoming products or services?
It’s possible to purchase or invest in real estate and/or crypto with me. Our products are the best real estate investment someone can make now in Dubai. The projects and properties we select and invest in have all the characteristics to represent great deals. The area, the developer, a feasible project, a brand, all these features create a good risk/opportunity investment.
