In-N-Out Burger and the City of San Francisco appear to be arguing over the authorization of the Covid-19 vaccine.According to CBS in San Francisco, the burger shop is Temporarily closed last Thursday Because its employees did not check the vaccination certificate for the customer. Although the business has reopened, it is now limited to takeaway.
For those who don’t know, this In-N-Out location is located in a tourist area called Fisherman’s Wharf. It usually welcomes guests to dine and take out indoors, and there is no drive.
However, the San Francisco Department of Public Health (SFDPH) temporarily shut down operations because store employees did not perform the city-wide mission known as “A Safe Return to Health Order.”
The order requires all restaurant employees to “actively intervene, requiring each customer to provide proof of vaccination and photo identification, and then, as a law enforcement officer, prohibit any customer without proper documentation from entering.”
Therefore, Hamburg Union received the final notice of violation and the notice of closure due to violation on October 14. Obviously, due to the complaint, the health department reminded In-N-Out representatives that they needed a vaccination certificate after they visited the restaurant on September 24. In another visit on October 6, In-N-Out still violated the rules.
Despite the temporary closure, In-N-Out continues to support their decision to provide services to all restaurant employees and “make everyone feel at home”.
“We refuse to be the vaccination police of any government. It is unreasonable, intrusive and unreasonable to force our restaurant employees to classify customers into those who can receive services and those who cannot, based on the documents they carry or for any other reason. Safe,” the statement read. “We strongly oppose any government regulations that force private companies to discriminate against customers who choose to patronize their business. This is obviously excessive government intervention, which is intrusive, inappropriate, and offensive.”
