Mubadala subsidiary Sanad, A global industrial services company specializing in aerospace, The company signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with GMF Indonesia, the country’s largest aircraft maintenance company, at the UAE Business Forum held during the B20 Summit in Bali 2022.
Under the MoU, Sanad and GMF will jointly establish a new state-of-the-art Aircraft Engine Maintenance, Repair and Operations (MRO) Center of Excellence.
This is part of Sanad’s ongoing global expansion strategy to create an international network of aero-engine MRO centers.
The new center will capitalize on the region’s growing demand for aircraft engine MRO services driven by strong air traffic and cargo volumes. It will contribute to the new UAE-Indonesia Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement, which aims to expand the two countries’ annual bilateral trade from about US$3 billion in 2021 to US$10 billion by 2026.
The two entities will collaborate to establish an MRO capability dedicated to CFM engines at GMF’s existing facility in Jakarta prior to the establishment of the new center.These engines are among the most widely used aircraft engines in the world, including LEAP engines Powering next-generation aircraft such as the Airbus A320neo, Boeing 737 MAX and COMAC C919 aircraft family.
The alliance will also benefit from Sanad’s advanced maintenance capabilities from its facility in Abu Dhabi.
