Sanid programme: Hundreds of UAE residents trained in first aid and crisis response

Abu Dhabi: People from all walks of life in the UAE have recently been trained in emergency and crisis response skills under the Emirates Foundation’s Thanid Program – National Emergency Response Volunteer Programme.

The Civil Protection and Safety course covers a variety of topics, including different types of disasters and how to respond, first aid, how to deal with the injured, crowd management, ethics of volunteering, and more.

The program, in partnership with various Majalis and other entities in the UAE, aims to provide citizens and residents with the necessary skills and training to maintain the safety and well-being of their communities in times of crisis, in line with Sanid’s aim of building a professional community for the protection of the community Volunteer teams are well prepared for the safety of citizens.

Volunteers had a satisfaction rate of 94.2% and received 2,303 hours of training across the UAE.

Emergency Response

Khaled Al Tenaiji, Project Manager at Sanid, said: “For over 12 years, Project Sanid has designed initiatives and programs that have attracted thousands of volunteers from across the UAE and encouraged a sense of shared responsibility for society. The Citizen Protection and Security Initiative is just the program An example of tireless efforts to provide trained emergency response volunteers who are able to assist local and national authorities in the event of a crisis or emergency.”

He added: “After a successful launch of the pilot phase in 2022, the program returns this year with four training sessions in the northern UAE and two more in Abu Dhabi and Dubai. Up to 384 volunteers, 50% of them were UAE nationals and 192 expatriates from 31 different nationalities participated in the responsibilities during these meetings, contributing to building a team that is well prepared for the protection and safety of citizens across the country.”

The training sessions were organized in partnership with Al Ain University in Abu Dhabi; Al Khawaneej Majlis in Dubai; Mughaidir and Al Subaihiya Suburb Majalis in Sharjah; Al Bida Center in Ras Al Khaimah; Karat Majlis.
