The Santaynez Valley Choir, now directed by David Lozano Torres, will hold a spring concert at the Solvang Veterans Memorial Hall at 1745 Mission Drive at 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 20, featuring Broadway hits.
Tickets are $15 in advance and are available at www.syvchorale.orgthrough a Chorale member, at the Book Loft in Solvang, or pay $20 at the door.
“We are excited to present our spring concert, Dream the Impossible Dream,” Torres said. “From the poignant Journey to the Past in Anastasia and Take Him Home in Les Misérables, to the haunting Phantom of the Opera and The Lion King ‘s Broadway show, The Choir takes you on the journey of iconic characters as they face hardships in the face of personal growth and self-discovery.
“We are reminded that we can do more if we continue to dream the impossible.”
Torres holds a Bachelor of Music degree with a concentration in Conducting and a Masters degree in Choral Conducting. He is pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts in Choral Conducting at UCSB.
“The Santa Ynez Valley Chorale has been a cultural part of the community for over 40 years. This spring, we are excited to offer a memorable and inspiring program for the entire community,” said choir president Casey Bemis.
The Santa Ynez Valley Chorale is a not-for-profit community organization that presents annual concerts during the spring and holiday seasons, and is available upon request to sing during special events and holidays such as Memorial Day, Veterans Day, and the Fourth of July.
