Season 42 of the Santa Ynez Valley Concert Series (SYV Concert Series) opened October 7 in the San Marco Valley with five programs and the opportunity to play four concerts from last season.
Artistic Director Robert Cassidy said: “Please join our lineup of wonderful concerts. Both new and returning artists will perform captivating music on our stage, enriching the lives of all attendees as well as the cultural scene. Ines Valley.”
Friday, October 7th, Opening Night – Baritone John Blanche and pianist Robert Cassidy perform their concert love lesson, including Gustav Mahler’s “Song of the Walker” , Maurice Ravel’s song loop “Don Quixote Dulcinni” and other selections from Frank Bridge and Reinaldo Hahn and musical favorites.
Friday, January 13 – LARQ (Los Angeles Reeds Quintet) returns to the SYV concert series with eclectic compositions spanning centuries. The LARQ members are Patrick Posey, saxophone; Claire Brazzo, oboe; Donald T. Foster, clarinet; Anthony Parnther, bassoon; and Brian Walsh, bass clarinet.
Sunday, February 19 – The Takacs Quartet will present a concert on the theme of late Beethoven – “String Quartet No. 12 in Eb Major, Op. 127” and “Strings No. 15 in A Minor” Quartet, Op. 132″. Takács artists are Edward Dusinberre, Harumi Rhodes (violin), Richard O’Neill (viola) and András Fejér (cello).
Wednesday, March 1 – Pianist Conor Hanick, known for his interpretations of old and new music and his “technical sophistication, color, crispness and fantastic articulation,” will play Beethoven and Galina Ustvolskaya’s piano sonatas.
Saturday, May 13 – Demarre McGill, flute and Rodolfo Leone, piano. McGill, a recipient of the Avery Fisher Career Award and the Sphinx Medal of Excellence, is now the Principal Flute of the Seattle Symphony Orchestra. He will perform an intimate concert program, joined by his favorite partner Leone.
