Sarah Polley Gets an Unexpected ‘Oscar’ for April Fools’ Day

Oscar-winning screenwriter Sarah Polley took to Twitter to share her 11-year-old daughter’s reaction to an April Fool’s prank.

“Dear Sarah Polley, It is with our deepest regrets that you received the Oscar in error – you must return it,” wrote Polly’s daughter.

Polly’s kid continued, “We’ll give you another week to enjoy its presence in your home, but after that time, you’ll have to send it back to Los Angeles and we’ll hand it over to the most appropriate script: ‘All quiet on the Western Front. We’re sorry for your loss, but it’s only fair that the best adapted screenplay actually wins an Oscar.”

The college did not want to be caught in another “moonlight year,” so they did not intervene during the ceremony, the letter said.

“This is too cruel to be a joke, so we apologize for any inconvenience,” the joke read.

Polley won an Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay for her film woman talkingat the 2023 Academy Awards.
