Riyadh, Saudi Arabia: From hosting several international sporting events, to hosting art exhibitions and live concerts with global stars, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is facing a growing demand for AV technology to support its burgeoning entertainment industry. According to Statista, it reached an estimated $308 million by the end of last year.
With Saudi Arabia planning to invest $64 billion in its entertainment industry over the next decade, there is huge demand for AV technology, professional lighting equipment, and theater and cinema operators to support the kingdom’s ambitious entertainment goals.
Growing demand will be the focus of this year’s Saudi Light & Sound (SLS) Expo, which will be held at the Riyadh International Convention and Exhibition Center from May 28-30. Held concurrently with the Saudi Entertainment and Entertainment (SEA) Expo, SLS Expo will feature exhibitors in the fields of professional lighting and sound, live events, digital signage, artificial intelligence, laser technology and stage technology. In addition, the SLS Summit will include presentations and panel discussions from industry experts and leaders on how to drive the entertainment market towards Vision 2030.
“The country’s entertainment industry is expected to be worth US$1.17 billion by the end of 2030. This explosive growth has created a huge demand for the lighting and sound industry,” said Sarkis Kahwajian, director of SLS Expo.
“Over the past few years, hosting some of the biggest international sporting events, from WWE to Formula 1, has become the norm in Saudi Arabia, in addition to theatrical performances and concerts with internationally renowned artists. Saudi Arabia, one of the most populous countries in the Middle East, with about half of its residents under the age of 30, has a growing appetite for entertainment, with hundreds of new cinemas already planned to hit the market by the end of 2018. For a decade, a plethora of theme parks and new cities have dedicated themselves to showcasing entertainment to attract domestic and foreign tourists.
