Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) creates four colleges related to the film and entertainment industry—one $4.4 billion industry for Georgia.

SCAD said this week that it would form the School of Creative Technology, the School of Animation and Action, the School of Film and Performance and the School of Visual Communication. These join the recently announced De Sole School of Business Innovation.

“SCAD continues to evolve as change defines global business,” SCAD President and Founder Paula Wallace said in a press release. “Our brilliance never stops. The degree programs SCAD offers today didn’t even exist before SCAD was invented! Groundbreaking learning programs like Immersive Reality and Themed Entertainment all belong in one class, which is why I’m proud to announce the creation of SCAD The School of Creative Technology, a Shangri-La for STEM students around the world, and the newly established School of Animation and Action, School of Film and Performance, School of Visual Communication. The future is at SCAD, right here and now.”

The School of Creative Technologies will offer courses in Immersive Reality, Interaction Design, Game Development and Themed Entertainment Design, while the School of Animation and Action will offer Bringing together the university’s top-ranked animation, dynamic media design and visual effects programs.

The Academy of Film and Performance will utilize the SCAD casting office, the Academy’s new film locations in Savannah, and mixed reality (XR) stages in Savannah and Atlanta. The School of Visual Communication includes the University’s illustration, photography and serial art courses.
