Scotland celebrates with the rest of the world at Expo 2020 Dubai – Dubai Blog

Scotland will host a series of events at Expo 2020 Dubai to celebrate the country’s national holiday, St. Andrew’s Day on November 30day, And strong business, tourism and trade links with the UAE.

The event will include a reception held at the British Pavilion, which will be attended by dignitaries, VIPs, business representatives and the media.

The celebration will include a special performance by the Scottish Association Dubai Pipe Band, an international piper and Dubai Police Band composed of drummers from Scotland. Scotland will also launch a new international national brand event to showcase the country’s enthusiasm, values ​​and qualifications to potential international investors, tourists and students.

A series of St. Andrew’s Day celebrations are inspired by the way Scotland celebrates National Day at home, that is, bringing people together to participate in cultural and community activities and sharing goodwill with each other.

Scottish Minister of Commerce, Trade, Tourism and Enterprise Ivan Mckee said:

“Scotland is an open, welcoming, friendly and tolerant country built on the values ​​of kindness and compassion. We want to share with the world what kind of country we are and what kind of country we are eager to become in the future.”

“We have adopted a values-oriented approach to international trade, which will guide how we do business around the world and ensure that people, businesses and other governments understand who we are and what we represent as a country.

“We are very happy to bring Scotland to this World Expo in Dubai to showcase the best we can offer in the areas of net zero, space, health and well-being. We are also very happy to celebrate Scotland in this global event. St. Andrews National Day, and share our culture and friendship with the people of the UAE.”

Trade delegations including leading companies in Scotland’s major industries will also attend the St. Andrew’s Day celebration in Dubai.

The UAE is Scotland’s 12th largest export market (excluding oil and gas), accounting for 2% of Scotland’s total exports. The main export sectors are food and beverages, engineering and advanced manufacturing, and financial and business services.

The Trade Vision issued by the Scottish government in January this year sets out five principles that will guide all future international trade decisions: inclusive growth, well-being, sustainability, net zero and good governance. These have been applied to today’s 11 biggest trade challenges affecting Scotland’s economy, people and the planet.
