May 3 (United Press International) — The SNP remains reeling from a financial scandal that forced a leadership change, the party announced on Wednesday that it had hired AMS Accountants Group to take over its books.
SNP leader Humza Yousaf made the announcement, hoping the party would begin to reverse a police investigation into the party’s finances. lead to arrest Former SNP chief executive Peter Murrell, husband of former SNP leader Nicola Sturgeon, and former treasurer Colin Beatty.

“We take our statutory obligations very seriously so it is welcome news that AMS accountants will be completing the accounts for the party and SNP Westminster Group,” Yusuf says.

The party’s Westminster Group faces a May 31 deadline to submit audited accounts or lose $1.5 million in public funds. The Electoral Commission also expects the SNP to submit its accounts by July 7 or face fines.
