Sea World Abu Dhabi, the region’s first marine life theme park, held a star-studded celebration to announce its official opening to the public from Tuesday.
Performances by Emirati singer Hussain Al Jassmi, Scottish recording artist Red and a 120-musician orchestra were the highlights of the grand opening, which attracted hundreds of special guests and celebrities.
All attention was drawn to the One Epic Ocean show at One Ocean Kingdom, one of the park’s eight zones, developed by Miral in partnership with SeaWorld America Parks and Entertainment. The immersive experience brings the wonders of the ocean to life on a remarkable 360-degree screen. A group of young ocean lovers then took to the stage to activate a mesmerizing sound and light display, in which a vortex lit up the same ocean sphere. In the stunning finale, a series of silver three-dimensional figures representing marine animals flew across the stage while guests were invited to explore the newly opened park for the first time.
Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak, chairman of Miral, noted that the ceremony marked a “great milestone” for Abu Dhabi, calling the theme park “a landmark attraction unparalleled in the region and the world at every level”.
“Sea World Abu Dhabi represents the next generation of theme parks, adding to Yas Island’s world-class experience, further positioning it as a top global destination and contributing to the development of Abu Dhabi’s tourism vision. Playing a key role in raising environmental awareness and protecting marine life in Abu Dhabi, the UAE and the wider region will undoubtedly inspire tourists to care for and protect our precious marine life in the years to come,” said Al Mubarak.
SeaWorld Parks and Entertainment Chairman Scott Ross added: “As the first SeaWorld park to open outside of the United States, SeaWorld Abu Dhabi marks an important chapter for SeaWorld Parks and Entertainment.”
Sea World Abu Dhabi recently announced that it has been certified by Global Humane, an international brand of American Humane and the world’s largest animal welfare certification agency. This is the first facility in the MENA region to receive this certification. The park will be open to the public starting Tuesday. To purchase tickets, please visit: www.seaworldabudhabi.com
