SeaWorld Abu Dhabi review: The best aquarium in the world

[ad_1]

After much anticipation for this massive project, we were able to attend the official public open house to bring you SeaWorld Abu Dhabi’s review. But how good is it? It’s… well… unbelievable!

Sea World ABU

Dubai: Sea World Abu Dhabi, a sea life theme park, opens to the public on May 23, 2023. It has five indoor floors and is home to more than 150 species of marine animals, including sharks, schools of fish, manta rays, turtles, reptiles, Amphibians and invertebrates, plus hundreds of bird species including puffins, murres, flamingos and more.

SeaWorld Abu Dhabi also houses the world’s largest multi-species marine life aquarium, housing more than 68,000 marine animals.

Arctic Sea World Abu Dhabi

The park is divided into eight areas, and you can enter the breathtaking central area “Tonghai” through the central portal. However, before you can reach One Ocean, you must go through the turnstiles to enter the attraction, which puts you in the heart and center of Abu Dhabi’s marine district.

Let’s take a deep dive into each of the magical realms in this SeaWorld Abu Dhabi review.

Abu Dhabi Marine

Abu Dhabi Marine

In this SeaWorld Abu Dhabi review, the number one spot is Sea Kingdom Abu Dhabi, featuring an Arabian theme and a wide range of dining experiences. You are welcome to use a swimming pool where you can work on certain creatives, in addition to a fairground tank display and a stage for the retail store, to the Abu Dhabi heritage and its deep connection to the Arabian Gulf.

Your guest experience starts here, where you’ll find the SEA Guardian game for the first time. In this interactive game, guests will engage in various themed activities surrounding the attraction, which can only be activated through a special SEA Guardian tool.

Unfortunately, we didn’t get to play this game, but throughout the attraction you can find many interactive points to engage in this game, which is great for kids and families alike.

Sea World Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi Seas will feature dugongs, sea snakes, rays and turtles, but during our open day visit there will only be a small population of fish in the tank for the time being, with other creatures slowly being added over time.

Inspired by Abu Dhabi and its peal tradition, live characters and performances will be on display in this area. The story will be told through characters and puppets. One particularly impressive puppet was the camel puppet we passed by. A very artistic and interactive walking display indeed.

an ocean

Ocean World Abu Dhabi

One Ocean is probably one of the most beautiful interior spaces I’ve ever seen, and the shows that take place in the area are truly breathtaking. I have never seen anything so beautiful that it brought tears to my eyes.

The show incorporates multimedia screens that wrap around the perimeter of the area, and even a drone show. The entire space comes to life and changes the world around you in this must-see show.

One Ocean Show Yas Island

One Ocean is your gateway hub to explore a variety of different areas and has one of the most beautiful indoor themed areas I’ve seen in any park in the world. In terms of immersion and theme, this introductory space is already ahead of other SeaWorld products in the United States.

Additionally, as part of this realm, guests can visit the beating heart of SeaWorld Abu Dhabi: the Animal Care Centre. Equipped with cutting-edge veterinary equipment and technology, this state-of-the-art facility provides the highest standards of animal welfare according to best practices and standards set by internationally recognized animal welfare organisations.

polar ocean

otter

Combining the realms of Antarctica and the Arctic, this cool-toned walkthrough experience is decorated in cool colors and cool breezes to simulate conditions.

From Juhani village to watching walruses frolic in the huge tank, this very icy space will soon be home to penguins (not yet added), and even more goodies, including a 360-degree theater tour.

Sea World Abu Dhabi, Arctic Region

Here, you can board a boat for adventures in cool surroundings, ride interactive boats for fun for the whole family, observe otters, and more.

When you’re fully immersed in these portals, everything feels a little surreal. The outside world no longer exists, and you get lost not only in the grand themes and buildings themselves, but also in the world SeaWorld has created. It’s pretty magical, putting many parks around the world to shame. Seaworld Abu Dhabi is a world class attraction and I really don’t think it will be at the top for a long time.

micro ocean

micro ocean

Shrink down to the size of plankton and explore a world where you’ll step onto the ocean floor and see a massive zooming installation overhead.

MicroOcean doesn’t contain any notable animals, but it’s certainly a fun theme park focal point for the attraction. Consisting of numerous flat rides and a surprisingly fast coaster called Eel Racer, guests will enjoy every second of their adventure in a miniature underwater world.

Huge characters (including a giant starfish) just roam the place, you never know who you might run into!

MicroOcean theme

This area is designed for children, including the play area etc, but as a big kid (like me) I really enjoyed it.

Guests should keep an eye out for the friendly characters, whether it’s Krill Dude and his musical performances of clams and barnacles, or the quirky starfish that pulsates, expands and morphs around the kingdom. Plus, inside MicroOcean there’s Bitsy Bites—the perfect dining spot where guests can enjoy their favorite eats, including pizza, chicken fingers, and slushies, between big (or small) adventures. Additionally, micro shoppers can enjoy a collection of plush animals, fun play sets and apparel at MicroOcean’s retail store, Squirts.

tropical ocean

Tropical Sea Ocean World

In the warm and pleasant tropical marine kingdom, you are greeted by the sea of flamingos and the rainforest area, scattered with toucans in the lush rainforest aviary.

Tropical Seas Discover a sandy beach with waterfalls, crystal clear waters, an absolutely massive dolphin pool and an amphitheater that hosts dolphin shows.

Sea world Abu Dhabi is the first sea world in the world without orcas, but they still have dolphins, I was a bit hesitant to go to see them, but the second time I saw the huge space that dolphins have, and learned some As for the backstory of the dolphins I feel a little more comfortable watching them. Not 100% comfortable though.

Dolphin show Seaworld Yas Island

The show they put on is spectacular as they play together and do all kinds of amazing things, displaying their intelligence and creativity in equal measure. The group put on one hell of a show about the bond between humans and animals, with some drummers and even a splash zone for those looking to cool off in the crazy Abu Dhabi heat.

I got myself some chili con carne from one of the tropical sea food sections and it was delicious! Surprisingly so for theme park food, but certainly worse than the chili I can get locally.

Abu Dhabi Sea World Cuisine

It’s crazy that I’ve eaten Chilli Con Carne everywhere in the world (including at Mexican festivals etc) and The Rifleman pub in Stoke-on-Trent still serves the best chili I’ve ever had !

The tropical ocean is also home to the all-new Intamin launch coaster, Manta. Manta is a 1,050-meter-long, sit-on steel coaster that’s not for the faint of heart.

Manta Intamin Coaster Seaworld Abu Dhabi

When you’re filming from the inside out during a fast-paced airtime, Manta surprised me by sending the guest 3 launches with an inversion and some themed footage. Obviously at this stage the full theme of the ride isn’t done yet, it still looks pretty impressive and rides like a dream, I can’t wait to see it all come to fruition!

I would definitely watch some ride videos online before letting your kids on board. You board at a station that passes a delicate turn in a fishbowl, and everything starts off very slowly and kid-friendly. Then the ride leaves the station with some pretty intense elements on the outside. If your kids are easily scared or a bit hesitant to ride, do your research on this ride beforehand, it’s quite intense!

Landing point

Rocky Point Lighthouse SeaWorld

For me, Rocky Point is one of the smaller, less impressive areas in the grand scheme of things for this SeaWorld Abu Dhabi review. The Rocky Point area is dedicated to showcasing the Pacific Northwest region of the United States.

The area itself looks spectacular with lots of corridors, only focusing on the lighthouse part where the sea lions are shown, but what really impressed me was the theater where the sea lions will be shown and the wonderful acrylic tunnel where the sea lions swim around you.

It’s a beautiful space that’s immersive, but it’s very focused on one thing. While that’s absolutely fine, I would love the variety in this field. More animals and two shows a day than we had on opening day. This may change, but we were directed to the amphitheater, where we were told the show was still hours away and would only be a viewing area for the time being. Of course, the initial problems at Open House are easy to fix.

The field employs state-of-the-art technology such as the Advanced Animal Lighting System (AALS), which reproduces the night/day and seasonal photoperiods of the Pacific Northwest of the United States. Intricately designed to provide an enriching experience for sea lions and seals, the vibrant habitats feature spaces where a variety of fish and animals can play, hide and rest, providing them with the stimulation and comfort they need to thrive.

endless ocean

Sean Evans Endless Ocean Sea World Abu Dhabi

Last but not least, my favorite place in this SeaWorld Abu Dhabi review is not only this attraction, but any indoor themed space I have seen in the world!

Imagine walking into a sci-fi movie with themes on the highest level possible for humans. Traversing through various futuristic tunnels and observation points, The Endless Ocean is certainly the best state of the attraction, jaw-dropping to say the least.

Featuring the world’s largest multi-species aquarium, stunning observation decks and 20 meters Viewing windows, aptly named Endless vistas, in Sea Caves, the possibilities of this realm are truly endless.

There’s an escalator that takes you underwater, with various submarine-themed boat decks and vantage points for interactive games along the way. The massive circular portal is like something out of a James Cameron movie, and the 22-meter vertical observation window is what dreams are made of.

Endless Ocean Escalator

I really think at some point this space will be rented out for filming, it was a pre-production set of the highest quality and again brought tears to my eyes.

Thankfully I wasn’t the only one, as a girl next to me was crying over how amazing the space is, and the tanks are truly spectacular, with so much space and vantage points to see these creatures.

There’s even an acrylic transparent floor where you can walk in the depths of the ocean below you (and it’s really deep) while creatures swim around you.

Easily the best escalator ride I’ve ever seen. The endless ocean is truly remarkable and has to be seen to be believed. Absolutely none of it looks real!
