dubai [UAE], 3rd April (ANI/WAM): The second UAE aid ship carrying more than 2,000 tonnes has arrived in Latakia following instructions from President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan Hong Kong, as part of the Syrian recovery program under Operation Valiant Rider/2 after the earthquake in the UAE. The Joint Operations Command of the Ministry of Defense has announced the largest aid vessel of its kind, operated by the Emirates Red Crescent (ERC). It carried more than 2,215 tons, including 1,040 tons of food supplies, 600 tons of relief and medical aid and 573 tons of construction materials.
Dr. Hamdan Musallam Al Mazrouei, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the ERC, said the aid highlights the UAE’s efforts to alleviate the human suffering caused by the earthquakes in Syria and Turkey. He affirmed the UAE leadership’s keenness to provide the best services to the brotherly Syrian people in overcoming this human tribulation.
“As part of Operation Valiant Rider/2, the ERC will continue to expand its humanitarian response in the best interest of those affected by the earthquake in Syria and Turkey. We are taking actions in different directions to alleviate the suffering caused by the disaster, he said, noting that the ERC’s “Bridges of Good” humanitarian movement is involved in relief operations in Syria and Turkey.
