Serj Tankian to release new EP with augmented reality app | Entertainment

[ad_1]

Serj Tankian is releasing his new EP via an augmented reality app.

The System of a Down frontman has announced plans for his new series “Perplex Cities” — a follow-up to “Elasticity” in 2021 — as he hopes to release new tracks each week through the Arloopa app.

From Monday (09/19/22) Serj will be releasing a new song, the musician “appearing in the same space as the listener-audience, interpreting the music and listening to it together”.

“I’m always trying to create new and fun ways to connect with people through my music,” he said in a statement.

“We made some great videos for our last EP ‘Elasticity’, so I wanted to try something different for ‘Perplex Cities’.

“I love the idea of being in the room with other people and listening to my music. It’s intimate, fun and different.”

The album will feature the songs “Pop Imperialism”, “The Race”, “I Spoke Up”, “Rumi Loves His Cares” and “Forgive Me Father”.

On October 21st, the EP will be released in full on the streaming service via the singer’s Serjical Strike label.

He joked: “[‘Perplex Cities’] A totally different sound than what I’ve done before. “In terms of the level of the music, it’s more electronic, subtler, and deeper. ‘Bewildering City’ has a unique aura that’s different from my previous releases.”

Meanwhile, the latest System of a Down tracks — “Protect the Land” and “Genocidal Humanoidz” — were released in 2020, with no plans for a new album.

He previously explained: “We still have something to give the world, and when you put out something that really makes a difference, you think, ‘Why don’t we do this all the time?’

“Then I went down a rabbit hole of depression and anger. I’m a sensitive person, so I can’t hide this stuff in there – it has to come out one way or another.

“It took me a long time to process and deal with it, because I’m also very realistic that life is finite; you only have a certain amount of time. Here we are.”
