Sexual abuse class action brought against Christian school

Three women have filed a class-action lawsuit against a Christian school and affiliated church in Canada, accusing a former Sunday school teacher of abusing them in the 1990s, which the administrator covered up.

The women claim that administrators at Christian Central College and Saskatoon Christian Central Church (now known as Traditional Christian College and Second Mile Church) knew of the abuse they claimed was perpetrated by former school employee Nathan Schultz.

Schultz is one of more than 20 defendants in a proposed $25 million class-action lawsuit alleging sexual abuse by officers at Christian Center College and Saskatoon Christian Center.

The complaint alleges that Schultz, who no longer works at the school, abused students when they were 4 to 7 years old, and school and church officials allegedly concealed what happened.

The allegations, reported to police, have not been proven in court, and no defense statement has been filed, according to police. CBC News Report.

Both Schultz and his parents are named in the lawsuit, and the alleged abuse occurred when his father was the school’s principal and his parents were church elders.

One of the plaintiffs, Caitlin Erickson, told the CBC that she attended school and church for 13 years until 2005. Erickson said she was sexually abused by Schultz when she was 6 years old. Schultz was a graduate of this school, a Sunday school teacher, when he should have been 16 or 17 years old.

Erickson recalled that when the Children’s Church was held on Sunday, Schultz “always volunteered to take the girls to the bathroom.”

Erickson claims that Schultz took her to a nearby equipment room three times and urged her to put her hand in his pants pocket.

At one point, after she repeatedly refused, he pressured her. Erickson claims Schultz cut the pocket so she could touch his cock.

“After that, I didn’t go to the bathroom when I was at church,” Erickson told the CBC.

Earlier this year, 18 former students at Heritage Christian College File a Criminal Abuse Complaint Oppose the school and Second Mile Church, claiming they were forced to exorcise and subjected to corporal punishment by school officials.

One of the students, Christina Hutchinson, tell global news About her experience attending Christian Central College when she was 8 years old. She allegedly endured spanking and therapy, which she said reflected an “exorcism”.

Hutchinson recalled that she and other students were asked to recite morning prayers in front of school instructors. She refused to participate because she was too nervous.

“The teacher at the time seemed to think it meant I had a demon, so she would let me stay in her lap during breaks and shake me while speaking in tongues,” Hutchinson said.

“It’s an exorcism in the sense that she’s trying to drive the demon out of my body. I don’t know what she’s doing and I can’t control it.”

The church and school issued a statement to Global News expressing remorse for the reported incident, noting that “the person accused of these acts is no longer here or associated with us in any way.”

“We are heartbroken to hear some of the stories of former students about what they experienced 15 years ago. Current staff and leadership are hearing some of these stories for the first time and we condemn any abuse committed by former leaders,” they said.
