roommate, track star Shakary Richardson May be known for her quick action, but now she has the privilege of screening her life story at one of the world’s biggest and most respected film festivals with the help of the late Virgil Abloh.
One record The film about Sha’Carri Richardson’s life titled “Sub 11 Seconds,” directed by Bafic and produced by Virgil Abloh before his untimely death, premiered at this year’s virtual Sundance Film Festival due to COVID-19.
According to the official description of the documentary, it’s “a poetic vision of young track and field athlete Shakari Richardson’s quest for Olympic qualification…a reflection on time, loss and hope, ‘Sub 11 Seconds’ distills along the path of Sha’Carri’s well-known ‘10,000 Hours’ to master her craft as she seeks to run the 100-meter dash in 11 seconds on the world stage.
In the movie trailer, which she also shared to her Twitter account, Shakari can be heard talking about her overnight success in athletics:
“Time is my blessing and my curse. On the track, I’m lucky enough to run fast. Off track, time deceives me. You never know when someone is going to be taken from you.”
You can watch an exclusive stream of ‘Sub 11 Seconds’ on the Sundance Film Festival’s website, and it’ll run until Jan. 30th.
