Take, for example, the latest ad for a soft drink brand in which he performs a stunt similar to the one he did in Pathaan. In the more than one-minute video, Shah Rukh, dressed in black, beats up the mob, grabs the helicopter and whips up a storm, all for his favorite drink. The ad breaks the fourth wall towards the end, revealing that SRK is filming with director Vinil Mathew, who tells him he can let a stuntman take over while he relaxes. SRK rejected the offer.
Once the ad was shared on one of his fan pages, SRK fans rushed to the comment section to drop multiple emojis of fire. One user compared Pathaan to the ad, writing: “His next movie Pathaan 2 or Tiger 3 will have a similar scene, thumbs up like there’s a train scene ad, and Pathaan’s (sic) train Scenes.”
Siddharth Anand’s Pathaan is not only the biggest blockbuster of Shah Rukh’s career, but also the highest-grossing Bollywood film since Aamir KhanWrestling Bar has also made its mark in the international market, minting a huge sum of over Rs 8.65 crore.
The film’s success came as a relief to Bollywood, which was battered at the box office. Not even big star-driven movies (read Akshay Kumaror Aamir Khan’s Laal Singh Chaddha) could make money in theaters. Only time will tell if Shah Rukh Khan will continue his winning streak with two other productions this year – Atli’s Jawan and Rajkumar Hirani’s Dunki.
