Sharjah Book Fair will showcase 15 million books-News

SIBF 2021 will bring together 85 writers, artists and creatives from 22 countries.

Ahmed bin Rakkad Al Ameri, Chairman of the Sharjah Book Authority, stated that the Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF) will showcase 1,576 publishing houses in the upcoming 40th edition Of 15 million books.

Among them will be 1.3 million unique titles from all over the world, of which 110,000 will debut in SIBF. The annual global event with the theme “There is always a suitable book” will be held at the Sharjah Expo Center from November 3rd to 13th.

Under the patronage of the members of the Supreme Council and the ruler of Sharjah, His Highness Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohamed Al Qasimi, SIBF 2021 will bring together 85 writers, artists and creatives from 22 countries and host 970 events, including Cultural meetings, performances, performances, seminars and workshops.

This year, the book signing corner will invite local and foreign writers to sign for fans, covering various types of books including poetry, fiction, history, literary criticism, translation, recipes, children’s literature, art, legal studies and archeology, among them, Al Ameri Monday Express.

He said that the 40th edition will provide publishers from more than 38 countries/regions with a platform to showcase works in various languages ​​and genres. “At the same time, due to its status as one of the world’s three largest book fairs, SIBF 2021 will also bring valuable opportunities for emerging startups in the industry to showcase their works and networks,” he added.

This year, Egypt tops the list of participating countries with 295 publishers, followed by 250 from the UAE, 138 from the United Kingdom, 112 from Lebanon, 93 from Syria and 76 from Jordan.

India has 87 publishers participating, followed by the United States with 48, Italy with 26, Canada and Brazil with 16 each, Spain with 14 and Mexico and France with 12 each. SIBF will make its debut in nine countries, including Colombia, South Sudan, Cameroon, Kenya, Malawi, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda and Zimbabwe.
