On Saturday, President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan expressed their appreciation for recent progress in UAE-Turkey relations.

At a meeting in Istanbul, the leaders reviewed the growing bilateral relationship between the two countries and explored opportunities for further cooperation.

Sheikh Mohammed expressed his pleasure meeting President Erdogan again and congratulated him on the success of the recent electoral process and the trust and confidence placed in him by the Turkish people. The meeting between Sheikh Mohammed and the Turkish president followed the signing of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) between the UAE and Turkey earlier this year. The agreement aims to strengthen strategic cooperation and sustainable economic growth for the benefit of the two countries, their peoples and the region. The agreement was signed in March to coincide with the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, a longstanding partnership that has been further strengthened in recent years by mutual visits between the two heads of state.

The leaders applauded recent progress in UAE-Turkey relations and discussed the benefits of the CEPA agreement, which promises to stimulate trade and increase investment flows between the two countries. The two leaders discussed their shared interests in driving sustainable economic growth and social development and explored opportunities for further collaboration in key areas of economics, advanced technology, renewable energy, transportation and logistics, manufacturing, tourism and culture .

The Turkish president extended a warm welcome to Sheikh Mohammed and his accompanying delegation, and affirmed his desire to continue to strengthen relations for the benefit of both countries and their peoples in order to promote peace and stability in the region and the world. President Erdogan said that his country attaches particular importance to its relations with the UAE, which it considers to be an important economic partner that supports development, stability and peace.
