In addition to providing information such as prayer time and Suhail’s star-rising time, the calendar also includes famous quotes and international days.

The new version also contains explanations of scientific and astronomical terms, and points out the corresponding Gregorian calendar months, astronomical cycles, zodiac positions and their impact on humans, climate, nature, and agriculture. It also mentions the changes in prayer times in different regions, and Holidays and annual events.

The content is organized and designed in such a way that every member of society of all ages can easily access and understand it.

Deirat Al-Duroor Wa Al-Tawala’a

The ancient astronomical system called Deirat Al-Duroor Wa Al-Tawala’a was designed to spread knowledge about UAE traditions and heritage and revive the skills and wisdom of our ancestors. The ancient system was based on dividing the days of the year into 36 parts in decimal. Each part includes 10 days called “Dur”, which are related to the ecliptic and climatic conditions, allowing people to understand the appropriate time for planting and harvesting, climate variables such as wind and rain, the breeding season of fish, and the appropriate fishing time. As well as the migration of wild birds and seabirds.

Al-Duroor’s calculations are related to the rise of Suhail star. The center previously established a special committee to monitor and record the star, because it is of great significance in these calculations and in meteorological and astronomical research. All of this content is contained in the Hijri calendar notebook.
Effective cooperation

The content of the 1443 Hijri calendar was compiled in cooperation with the competent authorities of the UAE in accordance with scientific, religious and astronomical guidelines. These institutions include the National Meteorological Center, the Directorate General of Islamic Affairs and Endowments, Sharjah Astronomy, Space Science and Technology Institute, UAE Astronomical Society and International Astronomical Center (Abu Dhabi).

The information in the calendar is approved by a special committee and a team of experts in Islamic law and astronomy. The content produced is based on years of research and meetings with scholars and researchers of Islamic law and Islamic world astronomy. It also takes into account the latest scientific findings of advanced monitoring methods, which have been used with extreme caution and accuracy.

Composition of the eight committees

The center established a team of eight committees to support the project. Many UAE researchers and scientists have contributed to the calendar project. These committees include content, research and research committees; design and creative production; development and creativity; content review; logistics support; technical support; and electronic publishing.

The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Center is under the Ministry of Presidential Affairs and is sponsored and followed up by His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs. The center was established to become the core of a cultural and intellectual movement focusing on mosques. This is based on the cultural and national values expressed in the concepts and values established by the late Sheikh Zayed. These values are deeply rooted in emotions and consciousness, forming an extension of national identity inspired by our religious teachings of tolerance.
